We waited excited and full of expectations till our adventure finally started. On the 16th February I headed to the airport. It was snowing and a special feeling in my stomach got stronger and stronger. After two and a half hours by train, nearly 12 hours on the airplane, one and a half hours of taxi driving and many minutes of waiting we finally arrived in Fort Cochin at the hotel.
Fully interested, we made our first discoveries and experiences in India. The first thing on the programme was to organize a sleepingbag made of silk. For this reason we visited a big silkstore in the middle of Cochin. We never expected this much of selection. So it was hard to find the most beautiful one. During the week we had the chance to take the fabric to a tailor. After negotiations with the tailor we had to pay 400 Rupies for one sleepingbag.
On the second day we went for a walk in the town. We saw how people work, live and what they do in their free time. It was really impressing how they live, specially the poor peolple. They have to live and work in very basic conditions. I am not sure why, but these people seemed to be happier than many people in Switzerland.
